Parents or caregivers are welcome to contact us to arrange a meeting. During this visit we’ll discuss your child’s needs, show you our environment, and answer any questions you may have.
Children on the autism spectrum who will benefit from our structured and caring environment are eligible. Placement depends on available space and the individual support needs of each child.
Once initial contact is made and documents are submitted, we may arrange an observational period (typically two weeks) so we can assess how your child responds to our environment. We’ll then provide feedback and decide together on the best way forward.
We cater for children across early childhood and primary school years, with placement depending on individual needs and class availability.
Our classes are small, with no more than eight learners in a group.
This allows each child to receive the attention they need in a nurturing, structured environment, supported by a dedicated teacher and assistants.
We believe families are vital partners in our work. Parents are encouraged to communicate regularly, attend events, and share insights about their child’s progress and needs.
We focus on each learner’s strengths and needs rather than a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
Our teaching follows an adapted CAPS approach where possible, with goals tailored to each child’s unique profile.
Programmes are developed by our multidisciplinary team, including teachers, a social worker, occupational therapist, and speech therapist.
For learners who are not academically focused, we offer a life-skills and social-skills programme to build confidence and independence.
Boland School for Autism is a dual-medium school, accommodating both Afrikaans and English learners within the same class.
Our extracurricular activities include Kinderkinetics and the Stimmy Zone programme (similar to robotics), which are very popular.
The school also has an occupational therapist, social worker, and speech-language therapist on the team, each available for two mornings a week.
Additional options include chess lessons, leatherworking classes, and the Rugga Roots programme. We are always exploring new activities and programmes that our learners may enjoy and benefit from.
The school follows the same term calendar as the Department of Education.
